Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) lost her congressional seat to Trump-backed conservative challenger Harriet Hageman massively on Tuesday, and liberal Hollywood wasn’t thrilled about it.
“If Liz Cheney is defeated today, as expected, I would not frame it as her losing,” newscaster Dan Rather said early Tuesday evening. “It is a loss for Wyoming, the Republican Party, and the nation.”
“Community” actress Yvette Nicole Brown consoled herself over Cheney’s loss by pointing out her past politics. “Cheney may now be anti-Trump, but before 1/6 she was in lockstep with him. And once he’s vanquished she will go right back to being a super Republican,” she tweeted.
In her first show @alexwagner is making me no longer care if #LizCheney loses her seat. I needed this perspective. Cheney may now be anti-Trump, but before 1/6 she was in lockstep with him. And once he’s vanquished she will go right back to being a super Republican.

Cheney garnered the support of liberal celebrities when she voted to impeach Trump and became vice chair on the House’s Jan. 6 Committee.
“Medium” star Patricia Arquette said that Trump should be worried that she got so many votes, despite losing by 30 points.
“The fact that Liz Cheney got 35 percent of the vote should scare the [s–t] out of Republicans who think Trump would have a chance in 2024,” the actress tweeted. “He lost the [popular] vote in 2016, lost general in 2020 and her numbers show he has eroded more of [the] Republican base. He can’t win.”

“Star Trek” actor George Takei wants Cheney to run in the 2024 Presidential election. “If Liz Cheney runs against Trump in the Republican primaries, she’ll be able to say what others won’t dare say: that Trump lost the 2020 election, lied to the nation about it, incited an insurrection, and is a continuing threat to our national security. I’m here for it,” he wrote.
Conservative country singer John Rich agrees, but for a different reason. “I hope Liz Cheney and Pence both run for President,” he remarked. “They need to be defeated as many times as possible.”

The former president took a shot at Cheney on his Twitter alternative, Truth Social. “This is a wonderful result for America, and a complete rebuke of the Unselect Committee of political Hacks and Thugs,” he posted.
“Liz Cheney should be ashamed of herself, the way she acted, and her spiteful, sanctimonious words and actions towards others,” Trump continued. “Now she can finally disappear into the depths of political oblivion where, I am sure, she will be much happier than she is right now.”
