Amy Schumer was heavily criticized after news broke that she was being considered to play Barbie in a new live-action version of the film by Sony.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old comedian being cast so the film can “take a contemporary spin on beauty, feminism and identity.” The decision to cast Schumer to play the iconic clue-eyed doll with impossibly perfect physical proportions was widely mocked on Twitter.
