Hopefully Taylor Swift can shake this off. If not, maybe there’s a new song in it for her.
“Speak Now” singer Swift was eviscerated over the weekend, after expressing her support for Saturday’s Women’s March, following President Donald Trump’s inauguration on Friday.
“So much love, pride, and respect for those who marched. I’m proud to be a woman today, and every day,” Swift tweeted, along with the hashtag #WomensMarch.
A perfectly lovely sentiment — and one that, in this age of social-media bile-spitting, was promptly trashed on Twitter.
One critic accused Swift of “gross opportunism,” adding, “Be better.”
“@taylorswift13 stop using feminism as a prop to fuel your fake girl power narrative/meticulously crafted PR persona,” another detractor hissed.
“[I]t’s transparent as f— and getting pretty old. you only speak about feminism when it’s ‘cool’ & can benefit you personally,” went another poison-penned reply.
