Due to the ongoing strike led by the WGA, the anticipated production of “1923” starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren has faced an indefinite delay. Originally scheduled to commence filming this week, the second season of the popular series had to be rescheduled.

The entertainment industry has been significantly affected by the persistent WGA strike, which began on May 2. This disruption has directly impacted the production plans for Taylor Sheridan’s “1923,” with the intended filming location of Butte, Montana being postponed as a result. Bill Melvin, the manager of the Civic Center, has been informed of the substantial delay caused by the writer’s strike.

To compensate for the setback, the production team has formally requested a 10-day extension to utilize the facilities in Butte-Silver Bow. While the Civic Center board has granted approval for the extension, the final authorization from the City-County Commission is still pending. As per the contract, a monthly expense of $75,000 has been designated for the utilization of the Civic Center.

Considering the ongoing WGA strike, it is possible that further extensions will be required for the “1923” production. Once the writer’s strike concludes, the production team will be able to make use of the Civic Center. However, the progression of the project may still face delays if other potential strikes, such as one by the Screen Actors Guild, arise due to a failure to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers by the end of this month.

Expressing her admiration for Taylor Sheridan’s writing abilities in “1923,” Helen Mirren speculates that he may have already completed a significant portion of the second season prior to the writer’s strike. However, if the scripts are not finished beforehand, the production may encounter further delays.

Mirren has not yet received the script for the second season of “1923” and expects to commence filming without prior knowledge of the storyline. She eagerly anticipates reuniting with Harrison Ford, having previously collaborated with him on “The Mosquito Coast” in 1986. The future of “1923” remains uncertain.
