“Orange Is The New Black” actress Alicia Witt has tragically lost both of her parents on the same day.

The Hallmark star’s parents, Robert Witt, 87, and Diane Witt, 75, were found dead in their Massachusetts home on Monday night, after she requested that a relative check up on them after not hearing from them in days.

“After not hearing back from my parents for several days, I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them,” the actress said in a statement. “Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable. I ask for some privacy at this time to grieve and to wrap my head around this turn of events, and this surreal loss.”

According to the Worcester Police Department, they discovered their bodies in the house, but there were no signs of foul play or trauma to their bodies, nor were the Witt’s deaths considered suspicious.

Lethal carbon monoxide poisoning was investigated, as the married pair had been having heating issues and were using a space heater to stay warm, but firefighters determined that there were no signs of the odorless gas present in their home.

A neighbor told a local publication that the couple was believed to have been ill for a long period of time, and were rarely seen outside of their home. Authorities will conduct autopsies on the bodies to determine the retired high school teachers’ cause of death.

Their famous daughter, who is a holiday movie mainstay after years of working on hit show’s “The Walking Dead,” “Twin Peaks,” “Justified,” “Friday Night Lights,” and more, resides in Nashville.

In addition to her career on screen, Witt is a singer-songwriter, and has just published a book called Small Changes: A Rules-Free Guide to Add More Plant-Based Foods, Peace, and Power to Your Life.
