Former “Growing Pains” star Kirk Cameron slammed the nation’s public school system for causing “sexual chaos” by promoting woke gender ideology rather than educating students.
“The problem is that public school systems have become so bad. It’s sad to say they’re doing more for grooming, for sexual chaos and the progressive left than any real educating about the things that most of us want to teach our kids,” he told Fox News.
Cameron, who homeschools his six children, is unhappy that parents are no longer allowed any input about what their children are being taught in public schools.
“And that’s just a fundamental difference in the way that we look at. Who has been entrusted with the sacred responsibility of raising our children? Is it the parents or is it the government?” He questioned.
“The things that are destroying the family, destroying the church, destroying love for our great country: critical race theory, teaching kids to pick their pronouns and decide whether they want to be a boy or a girl, The 1619 Project,” Cameron continued.
He said that homeschooling his brood is no cakewalk, but not allowing children to “get pulled into an ideology that undermines everything that is going to lead to their success” is worth the effort.
“They learn to reject a God, … they learn to reject our country. And how did that happen? Well, that’s the kind of regret that we don’t want as parents,” he detailed.
Cameron hasn’t been shy about going against the grain. In the height of California’s pandemic lockdowns, he held outdoor caroling events in December of 2020 that drew crowds of 500 plus people at Los Angeles malls.
“Listen, we had the most amazing time this last Sunday,” he said at the time. “It was a Christmas caroling peaceful protest. Have you ever sung Christmas carols by candlelight at a time when your state governor has prohibited you from doing that? In America!”
His upcoming documentary “The Homeschool Awakening” premieres at theaters nationwide on June 13.
