Pop singer Lady Gaga caught some heat from online critics after posting a tone-deaf video endorsing Biden in an attempt to appeal to swing state voters.
The singer’s Twitter video went viral for all the wrong reasons, after Gaga tailored a clip towards the beer drinking, truck driving, camo wearing masses she must believe make up the battleground states, in a last-minute effort to veer voters to Biden’s camp.
In the tweet, which has been viewed more than six million times, Gaga artfully cracks a can of beer while dressed in camo couture and knee-high boots, then leans against a giant gray pick-up truck to address her viewers.
“Hey! This is Lady Gaga. I’m voting for America, which means I’m voting for Joe Biden,” Gaga says as she gestures with terribly choreographed nonchalance. “And if you live in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Florida, or Arizona, I encourage you to vote, and if you have a friend that lives there, tell them to vote.”
She seemingly tries to entice voters to the polls by revealing she’ll be in one of the states on Monday. “Guess which one I’ll be in,” she remarks. “Hint: I used to live there.”
To tail her announcement, she takes a gulp of her beer, crushes the still full can, then slams it to the ground. “Cheers to the 2020 election,” she exclaims.
The viewer response to the cringe-worthy video was savage. One user replied “I don’t own a truck, never worn camo or drank a beer so if this is your idea of #TrumpSupporters you’re dead wrong we’re college educated, hard working people who love our country but nice try GaGa.”
“This is one of the most tone-deaf things I’ve seen this whole election cycle. You’ve just produced an ad for Trump’s re-election.” Another wrote. “Voting Trump baby all the way! “I was born this way.”” One fan mocked.
Another Twitter user wrote the obvious, “real rednecks wouldn’t have wasted that perfectly good beer, Gaga. I speak from experience.”
