On the eve of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s much discussed tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, a new report is now revealing just how much it cost CBS to land it.
CBS reportedly handed over a cool $7 Million for the rights to air the interview.
As The Wall Street Journal reports:
Talk isn’t cheap when it comes to Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.
CBS VIAC 3.28% is paying a license fee of between $7 million and $9 million for the rights to air Ms. Winfrey’s interview with Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex, according to people familiar with the pact.
The two-hour interview is scheduled for Sunday on CBS at 8 p.m. ET, after the network’s popular news magazine “60 Minutes.” Sunday is one of the biggest nights of television consumption.
As part of the agreement between CBS and Ms. Winfrey’s production company, Harpo Productions, the network also has rights to license the special in international markets. In the U.K., the interview will air Monday on ITV. CBS is a unit of ViacomCBS Inc.

They paid $7MM for an interview with Meghan Markle and her dim bulb of a husband, come on, that is a joke right? Is this a Babylon Bee story? What could these two possibly tell us that would be worth $7 much less adding 6 zeroes to that number?
Is this what reality shows pay their stars who are willing to go on TV and show how dumb they are? ‘Yes, we picked a fight with the Royal Family and think we are going to show them up!’ Followed up by, ‘No we aren’t stupid, why would you even ask such a question, after all you paid us $7MM for this interview, so who is the stupid one?’

My understanding is that Oprah got the 7 million and Meghan and Harry got nothing. They proclaimed they weren’t getting paid at the beginning of the interview.
She is NOT the Duchess of Sussex. She was stripped of that title when she chose Hollywood over England.

Disappointed!! Markle never intended to conform to the role of royalty. Good taste would have prevented this tell-all production. Furthermore… who cares what Meghan Markle thinks about anything. The Royal family will survive without Harry and Meghan. And probably thrive.
