Washington Football Team Fined $10 Million After Sexual Misconduct Probe

The NFL handed down the largest fine in league history to the Washington Football team following the conclusion of an investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against the organization.

The probe was launched after at least 40 women who worked for the football team claimed they faced sexual harassment and discrimination on the job and described the workplace culture for the last decade as toxic and demeaning towards female employees.

In a statement, league commissioner Roger Goodell said that the team’s work environment has been “highly unprofessional” towards women employees for years. “Bullying and intimidation frequently took place and many described the culture as one of fear, and numerous female employees reported having experienced sexual harassment and a general lack of respect in the workplace.”

Team owner Dan Synder appointed his wife Tanya as co-CEO, and will take a back seat as she runs the day-to-day activities for the franchise for the next several months.

“I feel great remorse for the people who had difficult, even traumatic, experiences while working here. I’m truly sorry for that.” he said in a statement Thursday. “I can’t turn back the clock, but I promise that nobody who works here will ever have that kind of experience again, at least not as long as Tanya and I are the owners of this team.”

All top executives will be required to undergo workplace conduct training, which includes the topics of bullying, microaggressions, unconscious bias, and inclusion. The $10 million fine “will be used to support organizations committed to character education, anti-bullying, healthy relationships and related topics.”

The lawyers who represent 40 former employees called the fine “pocket change,” and accused the NFL of protecting Synder.

“This is truly outrageous, and is a slap in the face to the hundreds of women and former employees who came forward in good faith and at great personal risk to report a culture of abuse at all levels of the Team, including by Snyder himself,” the attorney’s statement read.

“The NFL has effectively told survivors in this country and around the world that it does not care about them or credit their experiences. Female fans, and fans of goodwill everywhere, take note.”

“toxic, harassment, uncomfortable”…. the WHY in the H*** did these women stay around?!? It’s NOT the company that made them stay – they liked the money, must have been at least somewhat ok with the attention and probably enjoyed the side perks, otherwise, again, WHY would they stay around?!?!?>!?

Sometimes people stay on a job because they have nowhere to go that pays a livable wage. I’ve had to do it and so have others.

Since the team has been found guilty of harassment of female employees it will be difficult to find any women who will apply to work there. Of course, if the team cannot keep a balance of female to male, they will be charged with discrimination.

Hey on the brightside they may have a new name here. I didn’t think they could possibly do worse than The Wizards or Diplomats – commonly referred to as “The Dips”. But The Washington Football Team is about as lame as it gets. How about The Washinton Foreskins? They can still be called the “Skins”.

Women don’t belong in NFL football, never played the game and they wonder why there ideas get dismissed, theyre nothing but a pretty face to try up the ratings that’s why the game is soft these days.

Well, now we have a new name for the team. The Washington Harassers. It should ring very true inside the Beltway and not just in the locker room. In every government building from Rockville to Fredericksburg.
