‘Wheel of Fortune’ host Pat Sajak has been receiving an outpouring of support after he revealed the sad news that his dog of 12 years passed away.

As The New York Post reports:

“Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak is receiving a heartwarming show of support from fans after announcing on air that his beloved dog of 12 years passed away.

“We recently had to say goodbye to Stella,” announced a crestfallen Sajak, 74, ending Monday night’s broadcast on a melancholy note. “It was a very sad time for the Sajak family.”

Sajak, 74, concluded the episode by showing several photos of his deceased pooch during “happier days,” prompting an outpouring of “awwws” from the studio audience.

One of the pics depicted the game show icon playing with Stella next to a ceramic Dalmatian, while others showed Sajak playing in the snow with her — and sitting in a chair with his canine companion at his side.

Was Sajak’s decision to share the loss of his dog really appropriate? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

It IS appropriate to share both good and sad times with our furry friends, or fur babies; the majority of Americans are animal lovers. Sorry, for your loss, Pat, thoroughly empathize, having lost one of our own a few years ago.

More appropriate than a lot of what I see going on in the world today.

If you don’t love animals then you can’t love people, you are a narcissist. Most people who commit violent crimes start with animal abuse.

Fo crying in the bucket! That’s what’s wrong with media today. Trying to make something out of a person mentioning they lost a loved pet! Get real! Pets are part of our families!

I share his pain! I just lost my dog of 12 1/2 years just 3 weeks ago and it’s like losing a child! I lost a daughter to a drunk driver years ago also! Not trying to compare, but very painful!

Carl…I am sorry for the loss of both family members…..

And you are right…I cannot imagine losing a child….but losing a best friend with fur and 4 legs is heart breaking in its own right.

I agree 100%. Why shouldn’t Pat shared the passing of his beloved dog. People are so unbelievable. What is wrong with people?

Yes I think it was appropriate. Obviously, the Sajak family was upset and the dog was a part of their family after 12 years. If you truly love your pets they become almost like one of your children. Especially after your children have all grown and left home.

I am so sorry for their loss.

Yes he should mention it. The loss of a dog that has been with you is like losing a family member. I know how I felt when my Welsh Pembroke Corgi, Pebbles died. It really hurt. Thank God for pictures and memories.

Poor Mr. Sajak…I know exactly how he feels….my little dogs are the best friends I have ever had and are such loving and sweet company.

I have a question…why would it have been inappropriate for Mr. Sajak to share his loss? He is like family to many people. He sounds like a good person.

So sorry for your loss Pat!!!!

Why shouldn’t he say something about his Stella. He is a human being with feelings, and has every right to share them.
