In a recent conversation with ComicBook.com, Daniel Radcliffe, the actor renowned for his portrayal of the iconic character Harry Potter in the original film series, expressed his lack of interest in participating in the upcoming reboot of “Harry Potter.”

Radcliffe conveyed an understanding that the creators of the reboot aspire to commence afresh and leave their own unique mark on the franchise. Consequently, he inferred that his involvement would not be necessary. Although he acknowledged that he is not actively pursuing a role in the new series, Radcliffe extended his well wishes to the creators and conveyed his excitement about witnessing a new generation take up the mantle, saying:

“My understanding is that they’re trying to very much start fresh and I’m sure whoever is making them will want to make their own mark on it and probably not want to have to figure out how to get old Harry to cameo in this somewhere.”

“So I’m definitely not seeking it out in any way, but I do wish them, obviously, all the luck in the world and I’m very excited to have that torch passed. But I don’t think it needs me to physically pass it.”

“There would be somebody else playing Harry, so I think it would be very weird for me to show up.”

“I’m very excited to see what other people do with that. The comparison I’ve made is to a story like ‘Sherlock Holmes.’ I think the ‘Potter’ series of books was always going to be bigger than one interpretation or one franchise.”

Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed the “Harry Potter” reboot series in April 2023, faithful to J.K. Rowling’s novels. A new cast will guide new fans through the magical world. Radcliffe clarified he’s not involved and compared it to Sherlock Holmes, saying “Potter” is meant to go beyond one interpretation. Radcliffe is focused on promoting “Miracle Workers” Season 4 and supports the new “Harry Potter” but sees his time as Harry Potter as concluded.
