Actor James Woods Torches NY’s Dem Governor Over Concealed Carry Ruling

Actor James Woods gave New York’s Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul a reality check after she slammed the Supreme Court’s decision to lift the concealed carry ban in her state. 

SCOTUS declared that a 1911 New York law, which only allowed individuals the right to carry a concealed firearm if they had “proper cause” and “good moral character,” was unconstitutional on Thursday.

“It’s reprehensible. It’s hurtful to all of us who are on the front lines of trying to have sensible gun safety legislation,” Hochul said about the ruling that night.   

“It is outrageous that at a moment of national reckoning on gun violence, the Supreme Court has recklessly struck down a New York law that limits those who can carry concealed weapons,” she added on Twitter.

Hochul also tweeted that the local government was “reviewing” their options, which included calling a special session of the state’s legislature. “Just as we swiftly passed nation-leading gun reform legislation, I will continue to do everything in my power to keep New Yorkers safe from gun violence,” she concluded.

Earlier on Thursday, Woods reacted to the SCOTUS’s landmark 2nd amendment ruling with a celebratory tweet. 

“I encourage my fellow Americans to celebrate the Supreme Court’s rightful decision today by practicing and teaching firearms safety at all times,” he wrote. “Our Second Amendment rights can only be preserved through diligence and responsibility. Set an example always!”
