“Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David had a public blowup at lawyer Alan Dershowitz at a grocery store in Martha’s Vineyard for being a Trump crony.
Former President Donald Trump’s impeachment lawyer was confronted by his former friend David at the island’s Chilmark General Store, where a bystander overheard Dershowitz say, “We can still talk, Larry.”
“No. No. We really can’t. I saw you. I saw you with your arm around [Former Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo! It’s disgusting!” David replied.
Dershowitz defended that Pompeo is one of his former Harvard Law students, to which David screeched, “It’s disgusting. Your whole enclave — it’s disgusting. You’re disgusting!”
According to the source, David walked away and Dershowitz removed his shirt to reveal a t-shirt underneath that read: ‘It’s The Constitution Stupid!’
When the lawyer confirmed that the report of the incident was factual, he said his wife bought the t-shirt for him because people misunderstood his reason for defending Trump during his first impeachment trial was because he believed it was unconstitutional. “That’s the price of principle,” he remarked.
Dershowitz said the blow-up occurred after he greeted David in the store. “It’s typical of what happens now on the Vineyard,” he added. “People won’t talk to each other if they don’t agree with their politics.”
The lawyer said the pair were friends for many years, and claims he helped get David’s daughter into college and has represented him pro bono in a legal case.
He was extremely unamused by the comedian’s outburst. “It wasn’t funny at all,” he continued. “I was worried that he was going to have a stroke,” from all the yelling.
“Larry is a knee-jerk radical, he takes his politics from Hollywood. He doesn’t read a lot. He doesn’t think a lot,” Dershowitz snarked. “[David] is guilty of contemporary McCarthyism. McCarthy would have been proud of him.”
He said that he would still “extend a hand of friendship” to the actor despite the incident, “if Larry wants to talk about any of this.”
