One of the best, along with Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Mike Schmidt & Barry Bonds. For shear power, Aaron might have been the greatest. Most extra base hits, among other power records.

Growing up in the Piggsville neighborhood of Milwaukee which was just across the railroad tracks from Milwaukee County Stadium I was privileged to stand on the pitchers mound while the stadium was still being built. I remember when Hammerin Hank was just a young rookie who showed a lot of potential. I just can’t get my head around that he isn’t with us anymore. All I can say is whataguy! What a fantastic human being. I look forward to seeing him again because I know where he’s going.

WOW! What a beautiful life and a beautiful man! Growing up in NY as a Milwaukee Brave fan I remember 2 world series (1957 & 1958) but 1959 the best and not only because i was a little older, but for an entire summer the sports RADIO commentators were speculating that Hammerin’ Hank would top Ted Williams 1941 batting average! Hank Aaron ‘cooled”off a little and ended up at .355! The following year, in January before Spring Training a television show premiered called “Home Run Derby”. All the greats appeared–Mickey, Willie, Eddy, Ernie, Rocky but one guy stood out as the winner of the most episodes! HENRY AARON! Baseball in JANUARY was great for a little guy watching his hero!
