Rapper ‘Pop Smoke’ was gunned down in cold blood during a home invasion robbery in Los Angeles on Wednesday. As The New York Post reports:

Rapper Pop Smoke was shot and killed in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning in what appears to be a home invasion robbery, according to a report. He was 20 years old.

Around 4:30 a.m. local time, two men wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks broke into the home where Pop Smoke was staying, law enforcement sources told TMZ. They fired multiple gunshots, wounding the up-and-coming Brooklyn-born artist, according to TMZ.

A spokesperson for the LAPD confirmed to Page Six that at around 4:30 a.m., a homicide occurred at a Hollywood Hills home, but did not confirm that Pop Smoke, whose real name was Bashar Barakah Jackson, was the victim. We’re told the victim was a black male in his 20s and that he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement is unclear if it was a gang-related incident, the spokesperson said.

The suspects, who have not yet been identified, were reportedly seen fleeing the scene on foot.
