Aging Shock Jock Howard Stern warned celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson against trying to run for office.
Stern claimed that once these celebrities transition into official candidates they will be forced to give their real opinion on hot-button political issues and cause their popularity to suffer.

The two actors have emerged as potentially viable political candidates thanks to public teases that they’ll get into the political arena. Some in the state believe McConaughey could beat incumbent Texas Governor Greg Abbott and he has publicly toyed with the idea of throwing his hat into the race. Johnson, meanwhile, has been vocal about potentially starting a campaign for president and even made it a plot point on his NBC sitcom “Young Rock.”
The host used The Rock as an example of a person who is “a lovely guy” who is “the most non-controversial human being.” However, he noted that voters care about issues that have such a strong dichotomy and political divide that even Johnson’s charisma won’t be able to help him avoid discussing.
“People in the military assume The Rock is pro-military,” Stern said. “People in the police force believe The Rock is a law and order guy. People who are Trumpy believe The Rock really secretly loves Trump. The people who are liberals are going ‘You know what? The Rock is with us.’”
Stern noted that as soon as Johnson is forced to take a stand on an issue like abortion, “Oops! Suddenly people don’t like The Rock.”

As for Johnson and McConaughey – let them stand for what they believe in, tell the truth and as long as they stay that way, people will trust and vote for them, whatever they believe. They may not win, but, telling what you stand for and proving it is huge. That is why President Trump’s support kept growing. He said what he meant and did what he said, like it or not. May not have been 100% good guy, but much straighter than many….
