Karl Lagerfeld Calls Meryl Streep ‘Cheap’

Meryl Streep just landed herself the award for biggest cheapskate — according to Karl Lagerfeld.

The head designer for Chanel told Women’s Wear Daily that the fashion house was making a custom gown for the 67-year-old actress to wear to the Oscars when she cancelled last minute in favor of a designer that would pay her to wear their dress.

“Don’t continue the dress. We found somebody who will pay us,” the award-winning actress’ team reportedly told Lagerfeld.

Streep’s team disputed the claims and said that it is against the star’s ethics to be paid to wear a gown on the red carpet, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
