Demi Lovato, the pop singer who recently came out as nonbinary, has openly expressed her experience of feeling “absolutely exhausted” while using they/them pronouns during an interview with GQ Hype Spain.

In 2021, Lovato publicly announced her decision to adopt they/them pronouns, embracing a nonbinary identity. It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time Lovato has explored pronoun choices. In the previous year, she also expressed acceptance of being referred to as she/her alongside they/them, leading some to perceive the ongoing discourse surrounding pronouns as excessive.

Demi Lovato has shared her aspiration for gender-neutral spaces, such as restrooms, to create a greater sense of comfort for herself. Nevertheless, it is important to consider that Lovato’s background as a Disney star from an early age, coupled with her financial privilege, likely results in fewer concerns regarding her physical well-being—an apprehension that many women often experience when faced with the prospect of sharing restrooms with males.

Lovato’s goal of dismantling gender extends beyond restroom facilities, as she also questions the restrictive binary options found in various forms, urging society to embrace a wider range of gender identities. However, she did not specify the exact number of choices that should be displayed on these forms, indicating that even individuals within the community are uncertain about the extent to which this concept should be implemented. As a result, the specifics remain ambiguous and undecided.
