Carrie Fisher’s cause of death has been confirmed by her death certificate as a heart attack, but more tests are needed to determine the underlying cause.
On Monday, Fisher’s death certificate was issued from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health and obtained by TMZ. Under the “cause of death” the 60-year-old actress death was listed as “cardiac arrest/deferred.”
The “deferred” part reportedly means that further investigations are needed by the coroner to find out what happened. More tests in the form of toxicology, to determine if any drugs were in her system, could take several weeks to get back and complete.
Fisher suffered a heat attack during her flight from London to Los Angeles on December 23. She died three days later on Dec. 27th at UCLA Medical Center, according to the certificate.
