Feinstein’s Passing at 90

Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein from California has died at the age 90 after suffering from extensive health issues for more than a year. She is the first sitting senator to pass away in office since John McCain in 2018.

Legacy in Senate and Public Service

Feinstein served over three decades in the Senate and contributed to public office for over 50 years.  Notable for bipartisan efforts, she consistently worked to find common ground with Republican colleagues. The Senator announced that she her planned retirement earlier this year.

Prominent advocate for gun control, Feinstein played a pivotal role in passing significant legislations like the assault-weapons ban. She also spearheaded the Violence Against Women Act and chaired the Senate Intelligence Committee.
