The show’s liberal co-hosts trashed Trump after airing an interview where Dr. Anthony Fauci complained to ex-Fox News anchor Chris Wallace, that it was “very painful” for him during the early days of the pandemic, when the administration “declared war” on him for “telling the truth” about COVID-19.
Joy Behar, who referred to Trump as “president clown car,” said she felt bad for Fauci, because “the minute you go against this administration, they’re like the KGB. They go after you with all guns loaded.”
Hostin chimed in that she “firmly” believes Fauci’s assertion that “lives were lost because of this administration,” and claimed that they made him a “scapegoat, because Trump didn’t know what he was doing.”
Stephanie Grisham, who was the White House communications director and press secretary from July 2019 to April 2020, said “a lot more lives could have been saved” if Trump worried about the “facts” Fauci conveyed during meetings instead of the optics.
“I actually had a problem putting some of the information out, and when I raised those concerns, all messaging, if you can imagine this, all messaging about COVID got taken away from me,” she added. “It was transferred to the vice president’s team.”
Behar questioned if “all the people who got COVID, because of the lies and misinformation,” could form a class action suit and sue the Trump administration.
“My family has thought about this a lot, especially because Manny’s parents died from COVID,” Hostin replied. “And I blame the Trump administration for that. We’ve explored it. We’ve explored it— we’ve thought about it.”
